Brackley Town v Banbury Puritans  Saturday 27th May

On a very windy day at Helmdon, the boys showed an aggression and energy that I think we could have all borrowed on the sidelines to warm up.

Brackley Town u16's final league game of the season was at home on the Souldern hill verses a Tamworth team that won 8-0 last week. Brackley however are on a great run of their own & on paper this was going to be a close contest. Brackley started the brightest early on with the Tamworth's keeper making 2 or 3 really good saves to keep the scores level. Tamworth came with a game plan which was to look for their big centre forward at every opportunity, playing from back to front with their direct football switching play quite effectively with Brackley dropping deeper & deeper to combat this. Spaces were now starting to open up in the midfield & it was Tamworth that seemed to be winning every second ball & dominating the midfield as if the tide had turned. Rhys Allen had to make 1 or 2 saves of his own to keep Brackley in it but on the whole Brackley's rear guard were holding their own with Lloyd Offord & Connor Brunton coping very well with the long ball but we needed to plug the hole in the midfield before Tamworth made us pay.
