Leigh & Bransford Badgers Orient v Brackley Town u15's

Brackley Town u15's travelled up the M5 to Powick, Worcester to meet today's opposition in their latest league fixture. However the game started with the Badgers on the front foot & Brackley struggling to contain the opposition. Brackley were playing a very high line & we were lucky not to get exposed early doors. Brackley were trying to come to terms with the new formation which did take us about 15mins before it started to click. Brackley were now finding that the shape gave us triangles & diamonds all over the pitch when we had possession & our passing game was beginning to come together.

The badgers however took the lead when Brackley failed to put a challenge in when their forward was crowded out 4-1 & still managed to skip through before firing across the keeper with the ball smashing against the inside of post, & hitting the side netting in the opposite corner. It has to be said it was a terrific individual goal but it should of been dealt with & was a very hard pill to swallow. This didn't effect us to much as Brackley got more & more confident on the ball & the movement off it was great to see.

The 2nd half was even better from Brackley's point of view as the players were enjoying more & more of the ball, playing out from the back, through the thirds & putting the ball into good areas as they tried to find the equaliser. The shape was getting better when out of possession & the Badgers were finding it more & more difficult to break us down. Brackley were now creating chances but we were not quite clinical enough in front of goal electing to take an extra touch or two which cost valubale seconds as the chances came & went. Brackley kept going before hitting the underside of the bar with the keeper well beaten. It didn't fall kindly for us as the Badgers managed to hook it clear. We did end up losing the game today 1-0 but to be honest it felt like a victory on so many other levels. The whole team were fantastic today implementing a lot of new stuff & I believe we have laid the foundations for the lads to really build on for the rest of the season. Well done lads a wonderful team performance you should all be very proud...
