Brackley Town v DarlastonTown u16's

1 point gained or 2 pts dropped is the question in a game of 2 very different halves. Both sides came into todays game boasting a good run of form with Brackley W3 D1 L1 & DarlastonTown W2 D2 L1 in the last 5 MJPL games.

Brackley were 2-0 up at HT & deservedly so with Archie Hamp & Keelan McConnan getting on the score sheet with Brackley dominating the midfield & creating good movement ahead of the ball which was causing DarlastonTown all sorts of problems.

The 2nd half was very different after an under hit backpass to our keeper gifted DarlastonTown an early goal which gave them a massive lift & perhaps changed the game. Darlaston grew in confidence but Brackley were holding firm & kept the lead for most of the game but DarlastonTown were testing us & stretching us. We didnt press as much as we had in the first half & our shape wasnt as good which lead to our midfield being pulled about abit too much. We were now chasing & found it hard to just put our foot on the ball & keep possession. Unfortunately we were made to pay after a scrabble around the goal mouth which we failed to clear & our opposition forced over the line to draw level & made for a tense end to the game. Both goalkeepers kept their team in it late on with James Baker making a terrific save pushing over from a tremendous effort for Darlaston to snatch the points, & at the other end DarlastonTown goalkeeper made an absolute outstanding save from Keelan Cronin that was heading for the top corner. The game ended 2-2 which on reflection was about fair. Did we throw it away? when you are dominating & 2-0 up some will say we did but we shouldn't be to down hearted as our unbeaten run for 2020 continues. We can build on this, learn the lessons & look forward to next week to keep this little run going.
