Under 12 girls - Sunday 19th January.

Brackley town U12s girls took on AFC Rushden & Diamonds whites at Helmdon on a frosty and sunny morning. Brackley started the stronger of the two teams with having a few half chances before Evie played a 1-2 with Alice and then toe poking the resulting pass under the Rushden goalie to put brackley into the lead. Rushden replied with a strong spell and gained a penalty. Chloe done well to get a hand to it but it wasn't quite enough for the powerful penalty from the Rushden striker. The teams went into half time locked at 1-1 in a very entertaining game so far.

Brackley started strongly in the second half scoring within 5 minutes after Phoebe picked the ball up just inside her half and slotting a perfectly weighted pass through the Rushden defence for Alice to run onto, which she calmly finished into the bottom left corner. Rushden quickly replied with a goal to make it 2-2 before Brackley scored two in quick succession with Alice getting on to a loose ball in the box for the first goal and moments later Holly did really well to win a ball high up the pitch and laying a pass through for Evie to get her second of the game, putting Brackley 4-2 up.

Brackley remained strong under pressure from Rushden with Chloe now playing in the middle of defence and having a solid game there. Rushden picked up a free kick on the left hand side, delivering a dangerous lofted ball to the back post with Chloe initially blocking the first shot, Rushden fired a second attempt but only for Izzy to pull out an unbelievable save keeping the lead to 2 goals! Brackley then broke down the right with Alice winning the ball and forcing the Rushden goalie into a good save only for Evie to poach the ball in to round off her hattrick.

After a mad 10 minutes of goals there was a quiet spell before Rushden played a nice move down the right finishing off with an unstoppable strike into the top right narrowing the score to 5-3. Straight from kick off Alice set the ball to Evie and made a direct run up the pitch for Evie to play a sublime defence splitting pass straight through to Alice to go 1 on 1 and make it 6-3 to Brackley completing her hattrick.

Brackley remained on top for the rest of the game and worked the ball from a goal kick all the way down the right with Alice putting in a perfect cross, combining with Evie again who tapped in at the back post for her fourth and finishing the game off at 7-3. A very entertaining game from both teams with excellent goals all round and every single player putting in a solid performance.
