Brackley Town v Bampton 16/03/19

3 Aims:

Can we have 10 successful delays during the match – Success (18)

Can we stop them receiving the ball in the “10” area less than 10 times – Success (3)

When in possession can we make sure the ball stays moving and doesn’t stop – going to say a failure as our wide players often became isolated and had to stand and wait for a support run

Whittington u16's v Brackley Town u16's

Brackley travelled to Lichfield on another blustery morning to take on a very well drilled Whittinton team. Both sides played some good football & both sides were composed playing out from the back & through the thirds. The shape was excellent from both teams & a real treat to watch. It was Brackley that created the better of the chances in the first half & limited Whittington with some fantastic defensive work from Lloyd Offord & Connor Brunton in particular. Brackley should of broken the deadlock before half time when Eniola was

Brackley Town u16's v Oxford City u16's

County Cup away to Brixworth

Brackley Town u16's go marching into the County Cup Final after a nail biting penalty shoot out. The weather played a massive part & a boggy pitch didn't help & after going a goal down in the 1st 5 mins when a free kick was hung & swerled in the air & not cleared leaving their striker clean through on the keeper to slot home. Brixworth battled hard & deserved the 1-0 lead at HT due to their determination & desire which was probably greater than ours. To be honest Brackley struggled to get a foot hold in the game & really didn't stretch the opposition & keep the ball as they can but the wind was that strong everything was played down one channel with both sides having the same trouble. Brackley however had 40mins to put things right & were certainly the better side in the 2nd half despite the awful conditions. Brackley were awarded a penalty early on & Alfie Dunn levelled only for the ref to order a retake after a complete misunderstanding. The retake was missed to the delight of our opposition & Brackley left deflated. Brackley had a couple of decent chances when Hayden Durrant went through but it was Lucas Northover coming the closest as the ball flashed just wide. Time was running out but full credit to the Brackley lads who were still fighting & trying so so hard to find the equaliser. Tempers were rising but controlled & with just 3mins left it looked as though it wasn't going to be our day. Brackley however never gave in & managed to get the equaliser in the last minute after some great football which finally opened up the opposition as Hayden McConnell cleverly chipped the keeper & Lucas Nothover pounced to tap home from close range with Brixworth defenders close by to clear. The scenes were electric as you can imagine & with no extra time left us with a penalty shoot out. Our 5 penalty takers were keen to step forward & the order sorted it was Brixworth who stepped up first. Rhys Allen made a superb save with his chest but the ball had plenty of top spin & spun up towards goal, Rhys reacted quickly to claw the ball away before it reached the goal line. Alfie Dunn scored to give Brackley the lead 0-1. Brixworth dispatched their 2nd to level with Hayden Durrant stepping up next for Brackley. Just as Hayden went to strike, the wind moved the ball off the spot but it was too late he had taken it, to our delight the ball flew into the roof of the net & goalkeeper beaten. 1-2. Brixworth scored their 3rd & now it was Kia who stepped up for Brackley. Bang goal into the bottom corner to keep us in front after 3 penalties 2-3. Now Brixworth needed to score to stay in it but it was flashed over the bar which left Lucas Northover to score to put us through. Lucas didn't hesitate & calmly put the ball into the net to give Brackley their place in the final winning 2-4 on pens. Jubilation from all the players & supporters was tremendous & Brackley are into the County Cup Final....

Absolutely tremendous from a group of lads who gave everything in the 2nd half & what a way to clinch it.....
