Highfield Juniors v Brackley Town

2 Aims:

  1. Can we play recycle play 5 times (so play a pass backwards and then forwards in a new direction) – Success (7)
  2. Can we be played in behind 5 time – Failure (2)

If you ever want an example of how conduct on the sideline affects young players, you saw it today. Calm inspires calm and rage inspires…

We went down 3-0 within the first 20 minutes through a long shot, failing to react to a rebound, and a gap in the centre appearing and one of their players being played through (which is on me as we played with 1 centre-back today to try and get numbers at the base of midfield). They could have had more before half time but there was space for us to exploit, unfortunately the speed and range of our passing was letting us down and not allowing us to exploit the gaps being left in wide areas.

In the second half we didn’t give them any clear chances and scored deservedly through Finch and could’ve scored more, though Highfield still deserved victory.

What the stats say

Richardson had an absolute stormer. He had the most interceptions (13), played the most forward passes (12), and the most successful delays with 3

Finch also deserves a mention for achieving 6 completed dribbles from the left side.

Final Score 3-1

Goals: Finch

Assists: Harwood (though the chance was created by Roberts and Dooley and they deserve special mention)

Brackley Town u16 v DarlastonTown u16

Brackley hosted DarlastonTown in the 2nd round of the league trophy at Souldern which has been an eagerly awaited fixture due to the game being postponed a couple of weeks ago due to that weekend of snow & bad weather. Brackley started really positively today testing their keeper nice & early with a low drive from Eniola following a nice little move right from the outset. DarlastonTown played from back to front & tried to test our defence with their direct style of football but Brackley were having none of it & were equal to it.

“Stars Of Tomorrow

4 teams, 6 games of exciting football, skills, great goals and fantastic saves were the order of the day on Saturday 16th February as 20 plus Under 7s (the stars of tomorrow) took part in a celebration of football on the artificial grass pitch at Brackley Town FC.  All the boys either regularly play football for Brackley Town in the Witney & District League or attend Brackley Town’s popular Saturday Soccer school.  Special thanks to the coaching team of Steve, Chris & Daniel for making this such a wonderful event.”
