Brackley Town Juniors U10 v Chipping Norton Swifts (White) - Sat 29th October:
Three matches into our new season at U10 and a very buoyant group of young players emerged after a great performance against Chipping Norton at Kings Sutton!..
Delighted that we were really able to get going from the 'off' this time round yet still managed to sustain good energy levels throughout and ending really strongly in the blazing sunshine..

Brackleys FA Cup dream ended tonight under the floodlights of St James Park after Cogenhoe scored 3 goals during the second half with no reply, winning 2 - 4.
Brackley went in at the break 2 - 1 up after a confident spell in the first half where they dominated a lot of the play and applied plenty of pressure on the visitors back four and goal.

Brackley Town v Freeland (u12) 15/09/18
There’s no better way to start in the cup than against the team who beat you 7-1 in the final just 4 months earlier. And there’s no better way to start in the cup than completing an 8 goal turnaround and getting revenge! The pick of the comments in the parents’ group chat being “Don’t think Freeland saw that coming!” and it’s hard to disagree, the boys were brilliant. The amazing thing was it could have been more comfortable and when they brought it back to 3-2 with just under 10 minutes to go many feared the worst, but I was incredibly proud to see the composure of this team who were still comfortable passing the ball out of the back in this period despite the shouts from the sideline to just clear it.
Formation & Challenges
We went with Ryan Hayward’s idea in terms of formation from the start of the season after the wide front 3 had such great success against Grendon. The aim this time being to allow the wide forwards to cut in more or if under pressure to create a back 5. It transpired that the front three stayed forward and created numerous chances by offering an outlet.
Our 3 challenges were to:
- Switch the play at least 5 times – Success
- Limit them to less than 5 shots – Success (to be fair it was 7 total and without rebounds we succeed)
- Can we have at least 10 shouts of “sit” or “press” (this was because we’d been working on pressing in the middle 1/3 - Success
What the stats say
N’golo Kante had 20 interceptions in the entire World Cup, Finch managed 17 in an hour! What also impressed me with our play was that our no.8 (Alexander) completed the most completed passes forward and our no.9 (Richardson) completed the most passes outright, which shows how vital the runs of our front 3 were but also how we didn’t panic on the ball in the final 1/3. Also a massive shout out has to go to Dooley for completing the most dribbles despite only playing 2/3 of the match and overcoming an injury sustained in the week, as well as Flockton who posted high numbers in pretty much every stat category we had available apart from blocks and I figure that’s because he controls the ball so well every block just becomes an interception
Goals: Richardson x2, Flockton
Assists: Dooley, Shergold, Flockton x2 (his goal I had to give him an assist as well as he played a great through ball to himself!)
