It’s been a great weekend for Brackley Town’s walking footballers.
Brackley Town’s walking football team known as the “Senior Saints” rounded off an excellent weekend of competitive football by winning the Over 60s Walking Football Tournament held at Daventry Town FC.
On Saturday, the “Senior Saints” beat neighbours Bicester Fossils 3-0 in a Regional round of the WFA Walking Football Cup and now wait to see who they will be drawn against in the next round and with the likes of Wimbledon, Oxford United and Leyton Orient in our region the next round will be exciting.
On Sunday, at Daventry Town’s Super 6 Football Tournament the “Senior Saints” progressed through the robin round group stage against the likes of Rushden & Diamonds , Sheffield, Moulton, and Northampton Town to reach the Quarter Finals where they faced and beat Burtonwood 2-0 on penalties. In the Semi-Final our “Senior Saints” beat Moulton and in the Final against Northampton Town the game again went to penalties with Steve Watson and Peter Cross scoring to give Brackley Town’s walking footballers the victory and another trophy.
Well done you “Senior Saints”
