The team has enjoyed a terrific run of results rising steadily up the league table and into the play-off places. Although we are in January, it is of course still early days to be too concerned about league positions but better to be top five than bottom five at any stage!
Congratulations to Kevin who has been named as Vanarama North Manager of the Month for December. November finished with a narrow defeat in a live televised FA Cup game at Tranmere Rovers before December brought four wins and a draw in the league, an FA Trophy win and eventual FA Trophy defeat in a dramatic penalty shoot-out at National League Chesterfield. And this form has continued with an unbeaten start to 2021. Kevin has praised his players and coaching staff which is right because any successful team is built on team work, it’s a collective effort. It is also important to recognise the leadership and management expertise that Kevin brings to team affairs and this award is just recognition. Great work Kev and let’s keep going!
Shep Murombedzi marked his own milestone when he made his 100th appearance for the club in the home game against Kettering.
We have certainly suffered more injuries than in recent seasons and there are a number of possible explanations for this. However, with players returning to the squad in the near future let’s hope that the injury count is done for the season.
With one player testing positive for Covid the entire squad is in isolation bringing the postponement of the home fixture against Bradford (Park Avenue) and the midweek away game at AFC Fylde. Everyone wishing the player well and a speedy recovery. Both ostponed fixtures will be re-scheduled as quickly as possible and we look forward to matches resuming with the away trip to Boston on 23 January.
With matches being played Behind Closed Doors we are delighted with the live streaming service we are able to offer. This has developed from scratch and provides an opportunity to view the action for supporters currently locked out and confined to our homes. The work of the media team led by Chris Tymon and Steve Goodman with invaluable assistance from Rob Stevens has been fantastic. Live streaming also brings in some match-day income that is vital for the club in these difficult times. It was terrific to see that no fewer than 605 people logged on for the recent midweek game against Darlington.
Chartered Standard Community Club Award
The club is delighted to have been awarded the Chartered Standard Community Club award again by the Football Association. This recognises the highest standards of coaching and safe-guarding provision at a football club assuring parents/carers and everyone in the community that football provision at Brackley Town Football Club is safe and provided to the highest standards.
Congratulations and huge thanks to Margaret Oliver and Andy Thompson and all of our coaches.
Despite the obvious challenges caused by the health crisis we hope to be opening the new clubhouse, the Brackley Town Events Centre, in late Spring. Some works in Phase 1 continue but Phase 2 is due to commence on 25 January with internal works. We have appointed Tapper Interiors of Banbury to lead on Phase 2, the internal works and fitting out with a tentative end date of 30 April.
We will continue to keep supporters updated on progress.
Thank you for your continued support. The interest across the town in the affairs of the football club and our progress both on and off the pitch is so encouraging. Please stick to the Covid rules, let’s keep everyone safe and well, stick together, look after our neighbours and we will come through these difficult times as a stronger club and stronger community.
