Brackley Town u16 v DarlastonTown u16

Brackley hosted DarlastonTown in the 2nd round of the league trophy at Souldern which has been an eagerly awaited fixture due to the game being postponed a couple of weeks ago due to that weekend of snow & bad weather. Brackley started really positively today testing their keeper nice & early with a low drive from Eniola following a nice little move right from the outset. DarlastonTown played from back to front & tried to test our defence with their direct style of football but Brackley were having none of it & were equal to it.

“Stars Of Tomorrow

4 teams, 6 games of exciting football, skills, great goals and fantastic saves were the order of the day on Saturday 16th February as 20 plus Under 7s (the stars of tomorrow) took part in a celebration of football on the artificial grass pitch at Brackley Town FC.  All the boys either regularly play football for Brackley Town in the Witney & District League or attend Brackley Town’s popular Saturday Soccer school.  Special thanks to the coaching team of Steve, Chris & Daniel for making this such a wonderful event.”

Brackley Athletic Jaffas v Brackley Town - U10 Europa Cup - 09/02/19

A humdinger of a match in the swirliest of swirly winds against our local rivals Brackley Athletic, the game played in a tremendous spirit by both teams, (despite the testing weather!) and there was much to enjoy!..

Saints' backline was expertly marshalled by Josh and Will this week, whilst heaps of creativity up front created scoring opportunities (and 'inventive' celebrations!) for Arlo, Finn & Reuben!..

Midfielders Harry P and Henry competed enthusiastically to keep a firm grip on possession whilst goalkeepers Harry D and Isabella were very brave & assured whenever the Jaffas' dangerous forwards broke through..

The game's real highlight came when Finn somehow trapped an extraordinarily high clearance on his toe with nonchalant ease and it felt like the whole world had drawn breath!..

As ever, we are very grateful to our congenial hosts Athletic who really contributed to a very close & exciting game!..

Brackley Town U12s 0 – 10 Moreton

3 Aims:

  1. Can we play 10 passes backwards in final 1/3rd (looking to recycle possession) – Yes
  2. Can we break the midfield line 10 times when playing out – No (am not going to count times we played ball over the top and won it back)
  3. Can we have 3 rotations on a goal kick? - no

As you can see from the scoreline, a tough day at the office and a lot of work to be done away from training. We went 3 down within 10 minutes but after that started to pressure them well but were undone by 2 balls over the top before half time.

The second half then was about trying to work on patterns of play and understanding roles, but as can be understood when down by that much it becomes a struggle, especially in the conditions and with our goalkeeper having to go off at halftime (huge credit to Main for stepping up in awful weather without hesitation). Next week we’ll look to overcome this against a very good Highfield side who beat us last season.
