Wednesday night’s dramatic win in the play-off eliminator game at St James Park against in-form Gloucester City sets up a semi-final trip to Chester on Sunday with a 3.30pm kick-off.
Chester finished the 46 game season in 3rd place, seven points behind second-placed King’s Lynn Town while Saints finished 4th..
After last season’s 16th-placed final standing, The Blues enjoyed a rousing campaign suffering only six defeats, fewer than any other club. Ironically five came at The Deva stadium and only one on the road. Meanwhile, Brackley only won five times away from St James Park.
Chester were the draw specialists of the division, only Alfreton and Leamington drawing as many times at Calum McIntyre’s side.
Chester have been in good form, unbeaten in eight, but have won only one of their last five home games.
The two sides met in only the second game of the season on a blisteringly hot August afternoon in Cheshire when the home side ran out winners and the sides drew at SJP in January, Callum Stead on the scoresheet, Brackley ending the day in 2nd spot in the table.
“It will be a real tough fixture,” Gaz Dean said. “Chester are a really good team and it will be a tough challenge for us. But these pressure cooker matches with a big crowd can bring out the best in players if you can control your emotions. It is a difficult place to go and play but I have full belief in these players.”
The game will be broadcast on National League TV and BBC Radio Merseyside will provide live commentary that can be picked up from the BBC Sports website. BBC Oxford and BBC Northampton will carry live pre-match, half-time and full-time reports. Consequently, the club will not be providing a commentary on this occasion as supporters unable to get to the game have a choice of ways of following the action, including the club's Twitter feed.
This is an all-ticket game with no tickets available on the day.
