Chris Tymon7 Oct 2022 - 16:00

Brackley Town have signed experienced Scottish midfielder Martin Woods.

Roger Johnson makes his first signing as Brackley Town Manager.

Woods is a 36-year-old midfielder who brings bags of experience to St James Park.
He started his career as a youngster at Celtic before becoming a scholar at Leeds United and has been capped at the Scottish U21 level. He made one appearance for Leeds and had a loan spell at Hartlepool United whilst at Elland Road.

He joined Sunderland in 2005 gaining Premier League experience, before signing for Rotherham United in League One, making 36 appearances for the Millers. He then moved on to Doncaster Rovers for his most notable spell, making 113 appearances before moving on to Barnsley and Shrewsbury.

Moving back to his native Scotland in 2014 he joined Ross County, then he moved on to Partick Thistle and Dundee. Whilst at Dundee, Woods won the 2016 Scottish League Cup and scored in the semi-finals against his boyhood club Celtic.

Returning to England in 2020 he joined FC Halifax in the National League and made over 70 appearances over the last two seasons.

Roger Johnson said "I am really pleased to get this signing over the line as Martin will bring a wealth of experience on and off the pitch. After playing over 70 games at Halifax over the last two seasons in the league above, He has a lot to offer and will play a pivotal role in our promotion push."

Welcome to St James Park Woodsy!
