After back-to-back home wins over Buxton and Boston, Saints travel to Bradford (PA) on Saturday.
Manager Roger Johnson was delighted with his sides resilience and work rate to claim the three points against Boston on Tuesday night having gone down to ten men after only 30 minutes. Adam Rooney opened his account with the decisive goal, heading in from Martin Woods’ inch perfect cross. While Boston put Danny Lewis’ goal under some second half pressure, the defence was not breached and Rooney’s goal secured the win that took Saints into third place.
Bradford meanwhile were the only side not to win any of their opening ten games but have since won their last three. On Tuesday evening they made the trip to Blyth Spartans winning by a solitary goal. Ironically the winning goal was scored by Jacob Blyth. Football throws up odd coincidences!
Brackley won well in torrential rain in the corresponding fixture on Park Avenue’s 3G pitch last season but Johnson’s squad is suddenly stretched with injuries and the looming suspension greatly reducing his options in the busiest period of the season with three weeks’ of midweek games as Peterborough Sports come to SJP next Tuesday and Brackley travel to Southport on Tuesday 8 November after Kettering’s visit on the Saturday.
