Visitors Curzon Ashton were one of four teams with 100% records coming into the match having conceded just once in their three games. Brackley dented that record going ahead in just the third minute as Scott Pollock finished in determined fashion from close range after Matt Lowe’s cross.
Pollock was brought down by ‘keeper Bobby Jones on 13 minutes and Danny Newton doubled the lead from the penalty spot. A chance to go further ahead fell to Pollock whose shot was deflected for a corner before Riccardo Calder’s effort was tipped away at full stretch by Jones. But The Nash could not stem the tide and Saints scored again before the interval as Morgan Roberts lifted the ball into the net from close quarters as the visitors failed to clear their lines after a corner.
Curzon rarely tested Saints ‘keeper Jonny Maxted until late in the game. Before then Matt Lowe scored his first goal since returning to St James Park, again taking advantage of defending that was unable to clear from a corner kick and in the scramble Lowe finished clinically.
Substitute Connor Hall was close heading wide from Newton’s perfect cross as Brackley continued to threaten more goals and kept a second clean-sheet of the season so far.
“Everybody played their part with attitude and application bang on,” Gavin Cowan said. “Goals change games and to get two goals early today was impressive. We were really pleased to get the clean sheet as well. The lads fought really hard for it.”
