Saints lost out to a late winner on a night to forget at The Flamingo Land Stadium.
On loan Justin Donawa received a red card in only the 4th minute of the game, Matt Lowe left the pitch on a stretcher late on and despite a spirited performance by ten men Gavin Cowan’s side made the long midweek journey back empty handed.
“The night was made really difficult by what we felt was such a harsh sending off,” Cowan said. “I cannot fault the lads’ approach and application but this is a really difficult one to take.”
Kieran Weledji put Scarborough ahead on 24 minutes finishing well, The Seadogs’ first home goal since 19 October, but Brackley found the equaliser through substitute Morgan Roberts in the first action of the second half, Roberts firing home from Gaz Dean’s header after Tyler Lyttle’s cross.
Jonny Maxted was called into action to save well from Luca Colville keeping the visitors in the game and seemingly heading for a hard-fought and deserved point. Lowe needed lengthy treatment before being replaced in the final moments of normal time before Alex Brown smashed in the winner deep into added time.
There was still time for both sides to come close to adding to the score-line, Roberts denied only by the legs of goalkeeper Ryan Whitley and Richie Bennett’s shot well saved again by the agile Maxted.
