Stratford Town 0 Brackley Town 2 (Dean, Holman)

A goal in the first 5 minutes and one with virtually the last kick of the game gave Brackley a deserved win against a strong Stratford Town team.

The Saints looked on good form from the first minute with Carl Baker having his shot saved prior to Gareth Dean opening the scoring on five minutes taking the ball down from a Shane Byrne corner and drilling the ball past the keeper to put Brackley one up.

Further chances were had throughout the first half to extend the lead, most notably Matt Lowe who after getting behind the defensive line save his shot go under Goalkeeper Sam Lomax only to hit the unsuspecting Lee Ndlovu and bounce into the ‘keepers arms.

Just prior to half time Dan Holman had a great chance after being played in by Lowe, but again Lomax was equal to the effort.

the second half began the way the first ended with Brackley dictating the pace and play, James Armson with good chances again after some great build up play.

Substitutions were made on the hour and for a time disrupted the flow of the game but Luke Fairlamb had two opportunities foiled by Lomax who was having an impressive afternoon.

As the game ran into its last moments Holman and fellow substitute Tendai Daire combined Holman seeing his shot loop up onto the bar only for Daire to collect the rebound and see Lomax deny him with yet another save.

With the referee looking at his watch, Carl Baker found space and to hit a shot which once again Lomax was equal to but this time Holman was in the right place to fire home the rebound and top what was a well rounded and well organised performance.
