Saints hit Senior Cup six

Saints progressed to the quarter final stage of the Senior Cup in an open and entertaining tie at ON Chenecks.  Tendai Daire scored four goals before being withdrawn on a night when three youth team players featured as did experienced Mark Noon and with Glenn Walker captaining the side.

Daire marked his intentions hitting the crossbar in the early minutes before completing a hat-trick in 34 minutes, Carl Baker added a fourth with superb close control and a rasping finish to give the visitors a 4-1 half-time lead.

The hat-trick comprised the full gamut with a scruffy close range opener from Baker’s corner, a second set up neatly by Dan Homan and executed clinically, and the third a cool finish finding the bottom corner with aplomb.  He added his fourth and Saints’ fifth immediately on the resumption after the break with Matt Lowe popping up for the sixth goal minutes later.  The rest of the half saw substitutions, plenty of further scoring opportunities but no further addition to the score-line.

Worby, Myles, Franklin, Noon, Audel, Langmead, Walker (Harris 70), Lowe (Kirkum-Okeleke 70), Holman, Daire (Lawlor 55), Baker.   Subs unused:  Harcombe, Armson.
