Guiseley 2-1 Brackley Town FAC 4Q replay 19 Oct 2021
Lions tame Saints
A spirited second half performance by Guiseley brought a late winning goal to send the Yorkshire side through to meet League One and former FA Cup winners AFC Wimbledon in the first round of the FA Cup.
After an opening punctuated by injury stoppages Saints fell behind after 11 minutes as Lewis Hey produced a decisive finish. Matt Lowe’s 27th minute spot-kick was dragged wide of the target but the visitors were level shortly after the break when Lee Ndlovu’s perfectly timed run and neat finish past keeper Luke Jackson on 53 minutes put Brackley in the ascendency.
But instead the Lions raised their game. On 67 minutes a double chance was spurned before Hey’s 83rd minute free-kick was headed into the goal by Lebrun Mbeka to put Guiseley in front again.
Guiseley defender George Cantrill was sent off for a second yellow card but Saints could not find a second equaliser and were left to contemplate what might have been.
