“Foundations for success” - Wilkin

Kevin Wilkin’s side recorded a convincing win against visiting Hereford who finished the game with nine players moving Brackley into 7th position in the table.

Saints dominated the game with a goal in each half and further scoring opportunities.  Meanwhile The Bulls rarely threatened Danny Lewis in the Brackley goal.

Jimmy Armson set his side on their way after 15 minutes with a sumptuous finish from the edge of the penalty area, taking a touch before sweeping the ball beyond keeper Martin Horsell into the top corner following good play by Lee Ndlovu.

Luke Fairlamb tried his luck from distance, his shot swerving just over and Brackley again went close to doubling the lead as Connor Hall’s header was cleared off the line.  Hereford’s task became all the harder when Eliot Richards was red-carded just before the break after an ugly fracas.

Jordan Liburd’s header was close in Hereford’s best chance of the game before Lee Ndlovu got the vital second goal for Brackley on 51 minutes running onto Ellis Myles’ fine long ball and nicking the ball past the out-rushing Horsell and into the unguarded net for the striker’s 7th goal of the season.

That more or less settled the game as a contest although substitute Calvin Dinsley received The Bulls’ second straight red card of the afternoon in added time in a moment of petulance.

“When we move the ball as we did today we can ask questions of other teams,” Wilkin said.  “The opening goal was an emphatic finish from Jimmy and Lee scored the second after a great ball by Ellis Myles.  It was a great run by Lee and good finish.  We need him to be making more of those runs for us.  I am pleased to get the clean-sheet because these are the foundations for success.”
